Industrial Cleaning Equipment Ltd (ICE) has added the LS50 Hybrid Battery Wide Vac to its product range – bringing Italian flair to the UK cleaning sector. The LS50, which is 100% designed and constructed in Italy, has a wide reach, making it perfect for cleaning large areas such as conference venues, hotels, sports halls, schools, airports, railway stations and shopping centres, with the capacity to clean 16,000 sq.ft. per hour. However, its size and cleaning power does not mean that manoeuvrability is compromised. It is light in weight, with wide body frame rotation allowing it to clean under hard to reach areas such as desks or tables, and be transported to different locations easily and quickly.

Educational establishments have specific needs when it comes to cleaning regimes. Aside from the usual daily lessons, breakfast clubs, after-school activities and evening classes all mean that these sites are being used in more diverse ways more frequently, and out of ‘normal’ hours, which has a major impact on the cleaning regimes that are required. With such a diverse range of needs, flooring can vary greatly from place to place within any school or college. Carpeting may be favoured for offices and staff rooms, while corridors, classrooms, canteens, dining halls, washrooms and other communal areas will probably need harder wearing vinyl or synthetic materials. Gyms, sports halls and changing rooms often feature specialist safety flooring, while wooden floors in assembly halls will also need specific maintenance. Cleanliness is critically important in healthcare settings to help prevent and control healthcare-associated infections (HCAIs). Mark Bresnihan, managing director of Industrial Cleaning Equipment (ICE), explains more and reveals how one of ICE’s most innovative new products is being used successfully in a Scottish hospital. Bacterial infections and viruses love environments where people come into close physical contact with each other. Whether you are commuting on public transport, in the office, at the leisure centre, in school, or at one of countless other venues –wherever other people have been, there will also be the potential for the spread of germs. Maintaining hard industrial floors that accumulate oils, swarf, grease and debris from industrial manufacturing, processing and machining needs robust, efficient cleaning equipment designed for a tough industrial life. Cleaning hard floors in factories puts heavier loads on motors and bearings than commercial cleaning in offices, and metal waste makes life harder for vacuum cleaners than the odd paper clip or discarded staple in an office. The key requirements for cleaning profitability in tough and highly competitive times are speed, reliability, high productivity and energy efficiency, whilst minimising health and safety risks. Cleaning equipment needs to be increasingly versatile to improve the cleaning process, and should be easy to maintain inexpensively. Mark Bresnihan, managing director of Industrial Cleaning Equipment shows how modern products and services can lead to competitive advantage in the work place.
